Our gift to the community for Eye Care Awareness Month
Garden Route Eye Clinic supports National Eye Care Awareness month. To lessen the burden on our Provincial Hospitals, we are performing cataract surgeries during October at George Surgical Centre for patients in our community who cannot afford private healthcare. A total of 40 cataract surgeries will be performed and 1 strabismus surgery. All our surgeons at Garden Route Eye Clinic perform these surgeries free of charge.

PRK LASER Eye Surgery: What Is PRK and How Does It Differ From LASIK?
Beautiful Eye PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) is a type of refractive surgery to correct myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness) and astigmatism. PRK was the first type of LASER eye surgery for vision correction and is the predecessor to the popular LASIK procedure. Like LASIK and other types of LASER eye surgery, PRK works by reshaping the cornea using an excimer LASER, allowing light entering the eye to be properly focussed onto the retina [...]
Man Develops Star-Shaped Cataract

The trauma to the eye had damaged the eye's lens, triggering the formation of a cataract — and a peculiarly shaped one at that. Cataracts typically form with old age, but it's [...]
