Our Knysna Practice

Dr Johannes Meyer established the Knysna practice of the Garden Route Eye Clinic in 2012. This was done in order to bring the same complete service provided at his George Practice closer to patients in Knysna, Plettenberg Bay and further afield. The practice is elegantly situated on the banks of the Knysna Lagoon and the team comprises of 6 experienced and skilled staff as well as a beautiful marine reef aquarium with friendly inhabitants to keep you company in our waiting area.

In Knysna we mirror the technology and services of the George practice. There is a complete ophthalmic test room where advanced specialised eye tests and examinations are performed. We also have a dedicated procedure and Laser room on site. We have a resident team of Level 2 and Level 1 Ophthalmic Assistants, Data Assistants as well as a Registered Nurse on site. Dr Meyer consults on all eye conditions, eye diseases, Laser Refractive Eye surgery and he is an established Retinal Surgeon. Dr Peter Harpur consults in the Knysna rooms on Tuesdays and Thursdays when Dr Meyer consults in his George practice.

The Knysna practice is situated only 30 minutes’ drive from Plettenberg Bay and less than an hour’s drive from George Surgical Centre Private Day Hospital. Our patients have a choice to have their surgeries performed at either George Surgical Centre or in Knysna. Dr Meyer also performs Retinal and Cataract surgery in Knysna.
