Doctor Johannes Meyer has extensive experience in cataract and lens implantation. He is a leading Vitreoretinal surgeon performing major post-segment procedures, including macular and retinal detachment surgery. Dr Meyer also has experience in Laser Refractive Eye Surgery using techniques such as LASIK, PRK and now also TESA (Trans Epithelial Surface Ablation).

With many years of experience in the Health Sector, Erna is the conductor of our practice. She leads with energy and passion, and with absolute professionalism strives to ensure every aspect of our practice runs effectively and in harmony according to our goals of excellence.

A practice manager often has to wear many hats, Erna is also a qualified Level 2 Ophthalmic Assistant, able to perform specialized tests for diagnosing eye ailments – a true multitasker who keeps the team connected, the clinical care efficient, and the administrative tasks seamless. She also assists Dr J Meyer with patient care and support in theatre.

A real all-rounder, she defies expectations and redefines limits, she is a quiet miracle worker with all medical aids, assisting with motivations and injection applications.

She is also a qualified Level 2 Ophthalmic Assistant able to perform specialized tests for diagnosing eye ailments.

Our ophthalmic receptionist is the warm, welcoming face of our practice. She instantly puts our patients at ease with her kindness, professionalism and attention to detail. Taz thrives on helping others, providing a calm and organised environment from the very first moment a patient enters the practice.

She coordinates and organizes appointments and documentation to ensure the patient journey with us runs smoothly and efficiently. She is a bridge between departments, ensuring smooth communication between our front desk, clinical staff and management.

Taz is also a qualified Level 2 Ophthalmic Assistant, able to perform specialized tests for diagnosing eye ailments, ensuring empathetic communication and patient support.

In Knysna, we have our own resident Registered Nurse. Sr Tamara obtained her degree cum laude and is very passionate about patient care. She plays a vital role in delivering specialised eye care with both clinical expertise and a patient-first approach.
She is committed to making every patient feel informed, comfortable and supported throughout their visit. With her gentle bedside manner and deep understanding of eye health, our nurse is here to ensure that every patient receives expert care. Her upbeat characteristics shine through the entire practice – a true tonic!

The recording of accurate and concise clinical data is a fundamental part of our practice. Chadri, with her keen sense for accuracy, is Dr Meyer’s right hand during consultations and assists all other clinical staff with detailed record keeping and updating of our database. She is integral in the process of producing medical reports, referral letters, motivations for procedures, processing of PMB’s and more.
Her strong grasp of ocular diseases allows her to anticipate clinical needs. With her rare combination of clinical skills and data accuracy, she supports the smooth running of the practice.
