Intraocular Lens
An Intra-ocular Lens (IOL) functions just as a natural healthy eye lens would. Cataracts are replaced with an IOL, a clear plastic or foldable silicone implant, and the main job of the IOL is to focus light onto the back of the eye (retina).
There are many different types of IOLs and your surgical procedure depends on the kind of IOL you’ll get. Your IOL will contain a suitable prescription to give you the best vision possible. An IOL is placed into the eye through a small incision and the surgery takes less than 30 minutes. You will experience some degree of post-operative glare and halos around lights at night for about 3 months.
The advantages of IOL are:
- Remarkable vision improvement
- Safe and effective
- Ease the symptoms of presbyopia
- Reduce the need for spectacles or contact lenses
